Volunteers removed approximately 270 pounds of floatable debris from the beach and salt marsh areas on the South Oyster Bay side of Tobay Beach. They did an outstanding job collecting marine debris and carefully recorded items that were found. Commonly found debris included many types of plastic debris, glass, cigarette filters, and food packaging. Volunteers observed that much of the debris that ends up on the marsh could be the result of stormwater runoff.
