Mission: This award winning Town of Hempstead preserve serves as a plant and wildlife sanctuary, as well as a tranquil respite for residents.
Target Audience: Tours can be arranged for all age groups
Facility Description: The 52-acre facility also features a 500-foot
fishing pier into Merrick Bay and an amphitheater for orientations.
There are trails,
two ponds, great views of the South Shore Estuary Reserve and the New York
Skyline. Fresh water, estuarine,
marsh and uplands environments and a wide diversity of plant and animal species.
Facilities for People with Special Needs: All areas are accessible by electric golf carts by request.
Types of Programs and Resources Offered: Tours on plant and animal ecology for all ages.
